How Learning Vocabulary Plays the Key role in the English language?

Vocabulary instruction plays an important role throughout both the disciplinary and learning process. Vocabulary has deeps links with reading, conceptual and comprehension knowledge. Vocabulary is usually coupled with reading comprehension and abstract data. One of the challenges of teaching disciplinary vocabulary effectively is the lack of available vocabulary which is a major issue.

You can often find vocabulary at the end of each unit in the form of a multiple-choice question or fill in the blank. These exercises can help you to understand and learn vocabulary.

Vocabulary is very crucial for learning the English language. Here is some reason why vocabulary is crucial for your success in learning the English language.

Comprehension means the ability to understand something learning vocabulary can improve your skills of understanding the meaning of words.

Words are the notes of communication if you study vocabulary with great interest it will cover every sector of communication that is speaking, listening, writing, and reading. If you encourage yourself to use your own words when you are writing a letter to your loved ones or writing an assignment on the last day of submission it will improve your social confidence as well as your academic skills.

This method can help you to understand vocabulary more effectively and efficiently. Sometimes it gets really hard to convey your message because you are not using the right set of words, and it can get really hard for the listener to understand your message, so it’s really important to use the easiest vocabulary when you are conveying your message this can greatly benefit both speaker and listener. Knowing what words to learn first is the basic step in learning vocabulary more effectively. You can divide words into different categories.

Level A:

It can get really hard to convey the meaning of your message using these words. These words come from two sources Content Areas and Academic Language.

  • Academic language means written oral, auditory, and visual language proficiency. Academic language is used in educational institutes in several ways this language is used in books, lessons, assignments, quizzes, etc. A lot of students are fluent in academic language because it’s easier to understand and learn.
  • The content area now widely used as a subject area is a popular term among scholars and educators, content area focuses on areas that are related to skills and knowledge. These words are widely used in different organizations or science and social studies. If you have a presentation or a job interview then these are the words that can impress your audience.

Level B:

These are the common words that are used everywhere whether it comes to your daily conversation with your friends in school or college that can often get you kicked out of the class. These words can be found in abundance and cover a large part of English vocabulary. If you are a learner or a student in an institute you must learn these words if you want to read and write these words normally contain are, and, the, is, because, well, etc.

Level C:

These words are called “connectors” because they act as “signal words”. There is also some overlap with these words. If you are learning English you need to understand the “signals” for effective and meaningful relationships learn to sequence and look for important indicators to organize the text.

Level D:

Now let’s discuss the final boss. Level D contains words that contain multiple meanings and are challenging for everyone especially for those who are trying to learn the English language. Sometimes when your teacher asks you a question in front of the class you froze for a second if your teacher asks you this question “What are the factors that are causing global warming?” some people can’t answer this question because this question has only one answer but multiple meanings, they could have asked “What is the cause of global warming” wait now this sounds a lot easier right? D-level words can give you a tough time if you don’t give these words close attention.

Some common examples are

  • Pen” can be used both as “a holding place for animals” or “a writing instrument”.
  • lie” “to recline” or “to tell a falsehood”
  • Match” “to pair like items” or “ a stick to start a fire”

    Level X:

These words usually contain words that are not frequently used in a normal context, but they are sometimes used in a story or a context in which the speaker or writer is trying to deliver an important meaning.

Learning is easy and fun!
