Capital letters and punctuation
Capital letters are very important in English punctuation.
They are used:
1. at the start of a sentence
The day is sunny.
Paul, do you need some help?
2. with proper nouns (particular persons, places, and things):
His name is Peter.
She lives in France.
3. with adjectives that come from proper nouns
She loved Italian food.
Although William Shakespeare is best known for his plays, many exams also cover Shakespearean poetry.
4. for the first and all of the main words in titles
The First Second War
East of Eden
Romeo and Juliet
5. For the pronoun ‘I’
My name is Lily. I am British. I come from Liverpool.
